I recently caught on to a series on the National Geographic channel called "Border Wars." It's a documentary that follows US Border Patrol agents around while they patrol the US-Mexico border, and also observes the work of US Customs and Border Protection agents at selected ports of entry. I'll be honest, I'm fascinated after watching a few episodes from last season, mostly with the clips of Customs agents working hard to find hidden compartments in vehicles that are holding an impressive amount of drugs and cash. Another thing that made an impression was the glimpse of the hostile conditions under which Border Patrol agents often work - especially while wearing long-sleeved dark green uniforms. Who came up with that bright idea?
Anyway, if you've never been to the US-Mexico border and are curious how these folks do their jobs, the show (if you get NatGeo channel) is well worth checking it out. I believe the new season starts tonight (Wednesday) at 8:00pm EST: http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/series/border-wars
